The activity took place from October 8 to 12, 2018, within a 20 km radius around the SUCRIVOIRE integrated agricultural unit complex.
The screening was supported by the expertise of doctors from the Abidjan Cardiology Institute (ICA) and those from the diabetes clinic at Treichville CHU. Beyond the remarkable involvement of doctors from Abidjan, the contribution of the health center staff at UIA was beneficial.
The goal was to screen for hypertension and diabetes among nearly 1,500 people in the target area.
Initial care was provided to those who tested positive, and severe cases were referred to the ICA and the diabetes clinic at Treichville CHU.
Training was provided to the staff of the SUCRIVOIRE UAI health center to introduce new mechanisms for screenings and update their skills in managing hypertensive and diabetic patients.
By the end of our mission, we had screened 1,195 people.
