In this regard, the Didier Drogba Foundation has set the goal of facilitating access to quality care for the most underprivileged populations.

The Didier Drogba Foundation, as part of its regular missions, is committed to combating cardiovascular diseases among African populations.

BACKGROUND & PARTNERSHIP

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of mortality worldwide, killing about 17.3 million people each year—more than AIDS, cancer, and war combined. In Africa, cardiovascular diseases are the leading causes of death among people over 30 years old. There is one cardiology center for every 33 million people in Africa, compared to one center for every 120,000 people in developed countries.

The challenge is to provide quality cardiac care accessible to the most vulnerable and isolated communities, at minimal or no cost, while emphasizing prevention and education.

That’s why the Didier Drogba Foundation, in partnership with “The Heart Fund” (an international NGO specializing in combating cardiovascular diseases through innovative and sustainable solutions), created the “Heart Mobile.”

 The aim is to reach the most isolated or disadvantaged populations and provide them with access to detection and care for cardiovascular diseases.

The “Heart Mobile” project has been the subject of a tripartite agreement between The Heart Fund, the Didier Drogba Foundation, and the Abidjan Cardiology Institute.

Since its arrival in Côte d'Ivoire in December 2015, several screenings have been organized in schools, centers for disadvantaged children, and in villages and cities, in partnership with the Abidjan Cardiology Institute (ICA).

In 2016, more than five thousand people were screened during screening campaigns, and hundreds of thousands were educated about risks and prevention methods.
