The foundation of former footballer Didier Drogba announced on Monday, March 7, 2023, in Abidjan, that it will support the Ministry of National Education and Literacy in its quest to reduce illiteracy rates.
In Côte d'Ivoire, the objective is to reduce the national illiteracy rate from 47% to a minimum of 30% in the short term. This requires the commitment of everyone. To better achieve this challenge, the Minister of National Education and Literacy, Professor Mariatou Koné, received support from Ivorian former footballer Didier Drogba, president of his foundation, at her office in Abidjan-Plateau.
"National education and literacy are priorities for everyone. It is a duty as citizens to support all Ivorians in this quest. As a foundation, we provide our support," said Didier Drogba at the end of a meeting. Not without emphasizing that his foundation and the ministry will implement programs to encourage dictation practices and other training to significantly reduce illiteracy rates.
It should be noted that the strategy of the Didier Drogba Foundation involves implementing education projects and programs that contribute to providing better prospects for improving the lives and futures of children.
Minister Mariatou Koné, for her part, outlined the terms of this partnership with the Didier Drogba Foundation. It will involve implementing two types of projects: digital literacy and dictation. "Together, by combining our efforts, we must improve literacy rates in Côte d'Ivoire. Ensure that dictation issues are fluid in households. We also plan training and education sessions on digital literacy with workers, mini-bus drivers, hairdressers, cashew producers, cotton producers...," she mentioned.
The Didier Drogba Foundation is dedicated to supporting the most disadvantaged. Since children are the future, they are central to our mission. We deeply appreciate your generous contributions and support.
