On Wednesday, January 30, 2019, the Didier Drogba Foundation and the Ippon Foundation organized the second day of handing over a digital room to a school in Côte d'Ivoire.
After Vitrée 1 Primary School, the second edition of IT equipment donation chose Sainte Marie High School. The ceremony took place under the school's pavilion with over 200 participating students. Several education officials, including the Regional Director of National Education (DREN) and a strong delegation from the Ministry of Education, were present.
The entire team of the Didier Drogba Foundation and the Ippon Foundation, led by their two presidents, graced the ceremony with their presence.
After the speeches and a colorful ceremony filled with songs and emotions, a dozen girls were invited to sit in the IT room prepared and rearranged for the occasion by Ippon Foundation volunteers.
Officials and journalists from about ten media outlets were invited to tour the room. Under the spotlight, after having a one-on-one conversation with the girls using the computers, Mr. Didier Drogba and Stéphane Nomis answered questions from the press.
A visit to the teachers' room was an opportunity for the presidents of the two Foundations to thank those who help students maintain academic excellence. Mr. Didier Drogba and Stéphane Nomis asked the teachers to provide a list of their IT needs to make their teaching even more effective.
Sainte Marie High School, established in 1962, is a public school born from a convention between the State of Côte d'Ivoire and the apostolic community of Saint-François Xavier of France. This excellence school for girls accommodates 1,500 students from 6th grade to 12th grade.
